Update for Feb 16-18

 Hello Parents,

Hope you had a great Family Day Weekend.

Just a reminder that next week is our 2nd virtual Celebration of Learning. It will be ready for you Feb 24th but you can do it any time after too. All the instructions will be on Google Classroom and your child will bring home some work that day and show you some things digitally from the Classroom. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Here is a quick update of what we are working on this week.

Language Arts:

We are continuing to learn handwriting each morning. We started our kite string letters (i,u,w,t,j,p, r, s, and o).  We have also been working on note taking as we learn about Peru. After we took notes we wrote an informational paragraph about Machu Picchu and made some beautiful art to go along with it. For descriptive writing, we learned what a verb was this week and brainstormed strong verbs. Ask me a better word for ate, walk slowly or walk quickly.

Social Studies

We are virtually traveling Peru. We have learned many interesting facts. We learned about Llamas and how yarn is made and then learned how to make material from weaving. Our weaving practice turned out great! Then we took a close look at Machu Picchu. Ask me for some Peru facts.

Math

In math we learned how to make arrays for multiplication. We are learning our 0x, 1x, and 2X tables this week.

Science

We are continuing to work on our animal research project. We are starting to make a Google Slide from our notes. We can't wait to share it with you next week for the celebration of learning. Mrs Grose also taught us all about Geese and Owls and how they adapt to their environment.

We are so excited to share all we have learned with you next week.

Stay warm!

Farrah Hewitt
