June Update
Can you believe we are almost done school? What a year it has been, we are in the home stretch! I thought I would send a quick update of what our last month of school will look like. Sadly, this year we will not be having a sports day, school BBQ or volunteer tea due to covid restrictions. Let's hope the end is near and all theses activities will be back next year! We do have fun snack (Popsicles) on June 18th lets hope the weather is nicer for our frosty treat. We will have our schools virtual assemblies (Tuscany Togethers) each Friday for all of June and a Farewell for the grade 4,5, and 6 and Ms White too. Our class made a great farewell video to a famous boy band song, the link is on the classroom for you to enjoy! We also had a chance to meet our new principal Mr Tomczyk last Friday, the class was really excited to meet him. He will be visiting this week as well. The last day of school will be Monday 28th and Report cards will be available for you to print that day on PowerSchool.
We are wrapping up our curriculum for grade 3. Take a peek below of what we are working on and you can also go to the classroom for a more in depth look.
Math
We are learning how to measure mass in grams and Kilograms with a scale. Then we will learning about Fractions and finish our year with 3D shapes.
Language Arts
We have written persuasive letters to Mrs Devitt and to me to ask for any changes they would like at school. These letters were wonderful and many have received their request! We are finishing our puppet show which summarizes a Myth from one of the 4 countries we have been learning about. We have also written buddy letters to our grade 1 buddies wishing them a good summer. In the next few week,s we will complete our last story of the year, a fractured fairy tale.
Science
We have been learning about types of bridges. We have learned about Bridges in Calgary and will building bridges with k'nex kits for the last few weeks.
Social
We have wrapped up learning about helping organizations and will be looking at our own heritage for the last few weeks. Students will get a chance to research a country from their heritage or a country that they are interested in to wrap up our year long inquiry on Culture. We will also be looking at goods and services and talk about imports and exports into Canada.
Thanks for your continual support!
