Nov 27th Update

 

Hi Parents,


Thank you so much for participating in our celebration of learning. If you haven't done it maybe find time this weekend. Here is what we learned about this week. In science, we learned about rock testing. We did the fizz test,  magnetic test, Moh hardness test, lustre test and the streak test. Ask me how to do these tests. In math, we started subtracting.  Next week we move into 3 digit subtraction. If you have time practice some single digit subtraction this weekend to get ready for next week. In social studies we started to learn about India. Ask me what we learned so far. I think it would be nice to be a cow in India ask me why! In writing we wrote a rhyming poem for the winter celebration and we also made snow globes.

Please book for Parent Teacher conferences this Saturday

Half day Thursday and no school Friday next week

We will need 1 clean jar for each student to make crystals (Pasta sauce size)

Dec 15th Update

 Hi Parents, 10 more sleeps! I hope you and your family are doing well. Today we practiced describing hot chocolate and are making crystals. We are just wrapping up our subtraction unit and are making festive word problems. Just a reminder that this week the kiddos can wear their festive hats and shirts all week. Thursday will be the last day of classes (it is a full day) and it is Pajama Day. We voted on watching a movie Thursday afternoon. Please feel free to send a special snack for the movie. There is no school Friday. Classes will resume online Jan 5th. All the information will come to you over your break. Tomorrow the link for our virtual assembly will be sent to you and I will post it on the blog and classroom as well. Thank you again for all the generous gifts, this class spoils me each day! Dec 3rd Update

 Hi Parents Thank you all for booking interviews tonight and tomorrow. This week we learned all about India. They have different festivals like Diwali and Holi. Ask me about these festivals. In math we are doing 3 digit subtraction with regrouping. Ask me about the Robin Hood rule. We did lots of art this week. I can't wait to show you my rangolis, mehendi hands and Christmas trees. Today we learned the plural rule. Most words you just add an S, if it ends in a hissing letter (S, X, CH, SH) we add an ES. If it ends in a and f we drop the f and add an VES. There are lots of jail words I will share some  with you.  Reminders: -Fun Snack next Friday Dec 11th- You can order in Healthy Hunger -Pajama day Dec 17th -Paper towel or toilet pape rolls and yarn needed if you have them (please don't go buy) -Last day of school Dec 17th -Festive hat and shirt week Dec 14th-17th Have a great weekend The Grade 3's

Class Update for Jan 22nd

 Hi Parents, We had a busy week. We started to learn how to handwrite! We did our clock climbers "a, d, and g" so far. Ask for me to show you my handwriting! We also worked on recording our travel video about India, we will share it with you soon! In science, we learned what a mammal is, do you know we are mammals? We also researched lifecycles, ask me about what I learned. In math, we finished our graphing unit. I am bringing home my quiz and my bar graph today to show you.  We have some fun events coming up. The teachers talked about Valentines day and we have decided to make our cards in a safe way at school. Please do not buy or make cards at home this year, we have it all covered at school. We will also have opportunities to celebrate friendship and write notes of kindness on Pink shirt day Feb 22nd. Our class is the pink shirt day organizers this year too!!
